Frequently Asked Questions

The approach depends on your symptoms and your physician's assessment. In physiotherapy, manual therapy and controlled exercise programmes such as clinical Pilates aim to strengthen the muscles around the spine and make everyday movements easier. The programme is planned individually after assessment.

Exercises should be chosen according to a clinical assessment rather than generic lists online; an exercise that suits one person may aggravate another person's symptoms. Programmes usually start with core stabilisation and progress gradually according to tolerance. Weakness in the leg or changes in bladder or bowel control require urgent medical attention.

For neck and upper-back pain or arm numbness related to these conditions, physiotherapy may include manual therapy, postural exercises and advice on daily habits. The aim is to improve muscle balance and movement quality around the neck. Marked weakness in the arm should first be assessed by a physician.

In frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) the main goal is to gradually increase the range of motion of the shoulder joint. Manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilisation can be combined with stretching and strengthening exercises. Recovery time varies; regular home exercise is an important part of the process.

In knee osteoarthritis, changes in the joint cartilage can cause pain, morning stiffness and difficulty walking. Progressive resistance exercise and functional strengthening of the muscles around the knee can help the joint cope better with load. The programme takes your pain level and your physician's advice into account.

The role of exercise depends on the size of the curve, age and growth stage. Three-dimensional scoliosis-specific exercises (Scoliotherapy) are used alongside medical follow-up to help limit progression and support posture and trunk balance. Results vary between individuals, so regular check-ups and X-ray follow-up with your physician are important.

Regular physical activity adjusted to individual tolerance is one of the main recommended approaches in fibromyalgia. Relaxation exercises, equipment-based clinical Pilates and manual therapy can be combined in a personal programme, with intensity adjusted during flare-ups and alongside medical follow-up.

A diagnosis by a physician is needed first. After diagnosis, a physiotherapist can plan manual lymph drainage, compression bandaging, skin-care advice and exercise. These aim to support oedema management and comfort in daily life.
